How to Clean Stains off of Hardwood Floors and Painted Walls

Post-party clean-up made easy

About a month ago some friends and I threw a large party. We hosted it in my current rental, a beautiful penthouse apartment in Pacific Heights. Despite my inviting mostly responsible types, there were a few very stubborn stains that needed taking care of come the morning after (as well as a few very stubborn hangovers). And since I was planning on moving out in a couple of weeks and had put what basically amounted to a nest-egg down for a security deposit, I deemed it critical to address those stains (the return of the security deposit of course to be used to fund another large party at the new place, and so on and so forth ad infinitum...).

First, there were several small multi-colored stains on the light-colored bamboo hardwoods. Upon doing a bit of research I determined that the stains were from beer-soaked confetti that had come from the Donkey Pinata we (I) had thrown into the middle of the dance floor at about 3AM. Taking full credit for said negligence, I was determined to remove the stains. After trying myself with different topical substances AND having my regular housecleaner come, a few of the most stubborn stains remained. Trouble for party-goers everywhere was looming on the horizon at this point. No stain removal, decimated security deposit.

In addition, there was a large blue stain on the wall where I could visualize - in the manner of that guy on CSI who can visualize how the crime happened - where someone had raided our liquor cabinet, added some of the blue martini mix to their margarita (tasty I am sure) and promptly slipped and fell, tossing the drink against the wall in the process. I tried again to get the stain off with my own elbow grease and some other stuff from under the sink, but to no avail.

SO - you must all be wondering, what was the final solution?

It was quite simple in fact. I called the manager of the housekeeping organization from which I had hired the original housekeeper and said she hadn't done a good enough job on the floors and walls. She proposed sending over 'Dina', who I imagined would be a character a bit like Mr. Wolf from Pulp Fiction. "The Cleaner". It turns out she was a young Brazilian. Go figure. But Dina really WAS the cleaner. She spent 6 hours at the place and upon finishing, the stains from the donkey confetti were gone, the blue martini mix spill stain was gone, and the place looked phenomenal. Just in time for the owner to come in unexpectedly from out of town for a quick 'check-up'.

SO - in conclusion, if you have stubborn stains on your walls, your floors or likely anywhere else from what I can tell (no funny jokes here), Dina the Cleaner is the one to call. I have her number in case anyone wants it, but I won't list it here for privacy reasons.
